Aceh Police Name 5 Corruption Suspects For Construction Of Hospitals Whose Terrace Has Collapsed

BANDA ACEH - Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Police have named five people as suspects in corruption in the construction of a regional hospital in Central Aceh Regency.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police Kombes Winardy said the determination of five names as suspects was after investigators from the Corruption Sub-Directorate of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate held a case.

"The determination of the suspect was after investigators conducted a series of investigations and then raised it to the investigation stage and examined a number of witnesses," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 1.

The five people named as suspects are SM as the Budget User Authority (KPA), JM as the Technical Implementation Officer for Activities (PPTK), KB as the supervisory consultant, SB as the owner of the implementing company, and HD as the company borrower.

"In this case, investigators also confiscated Rp270 million along with the hospital construction documents. The state losses incurred reached Rp1,174 billion," said Winardy.

The investigation into the alleged corruption in the construction of the hospital began to collapse in the terrace in November 2022. The regional hospital was built gradually since 2016 with costs sourced from Aceh's budget (APBA).

In investigating the case, investigators involved five construction experts and asked for information from 27 witnesses from related parties. From the results of the witness examination, the construction of the hospital allegedly did not match specifications.

Winardy said investigators applied the actions of the perpetrators in violation of Article 2 Paragraph (1) and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended into Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

"The minimum sentence is four years and a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of at least Rp. 200 million and a maximum of Rp. 1 billion," said Winardy.
