Surya Paloh If Democrats Leave Coalition: I Respect

Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh respects the steps taken by the Democratic Party if they decide to leave the Coalition for Change (KPP).

"I respect it. What else should I say," said Surya in Jakarta, Thursday, August 31.

KKP is known to have formed NasDem, Democrat and PKS. The three parties initially agreed to carry Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

However, without Democrats' approval, Anies was then paired with PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin. Democrats who were disappointed said the investigation was a form of betrayal of the Coalition Charter that had been agreed upon by the three political parties of KKP members.

In response, Surya couldn't stop thinking. He chose the public to judge for himself NasDem's decision which finally made Cak Imin Anies' companion in the 2024 presidential election.

"You can see that my model has talent as a traitor or not. That's all, but I respect that," he continued.

Previously, the Democrats claimed to have received information from spokesman Anies as well as a member of Team 8 of the Sudirman Said Amendment Coalition that the Minister of Agriculture and the Governor of DKI Jakarta had approved the political cooperation between Nasdem and PKB.

Secretary General of the Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya admitted that the Democrats were 'forced' to accept the decision. According to him, this is a form of betrayal against the spirit of change and conveyed by the presidential candidate Anies Baswedan himself, who has been given the mandate to lead the Coalition for Change.

"The series of events that occurred were a form of betrayal against the spirit of change. The betrayal of the Coalition charter that has been agreed upon by the three political parties, as well as the betrayal of what has been conveyed by Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan himself which has been mandated to lead the coalition," he said in a written statement, Thursday, August 31.
