JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said the Air Pollution Control Task Force and Air Pollution Handling of DKI Jakarta are tasked with supervising industries related to exhaust gas emissions in the capital city.

According to him, the task force can immediately work to deal with the problem of poor air quality in DKI Jakarta.

"His job is to reduce pollution as soon as possible and in the long term. Industry-industry supervision regarding exhaust emissions," Heru said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

According to Heru, the task force is the same as the Pollution Handling Task Force formed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"Supervision of their current condition (industry) has indications that the exhaust gas exceeds the government standard," said Heru.

The Jakarta Air Pollution Control and Handling Task Force is chaired by the Assistant for Development and Environment of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat (Setda)Afan Adriansyah Idris.

Heru also said that as many as 300 buildings in Jakarta had been listed as tall buildings and were projected to make water fog. Related to this, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will invite building managers to the Jakarta City Hall for guidance.

Efforts to create water fog carried out in all high-rise buildings in Jakarta and will be supervised by the DKI Jakarta Air Pollution and Air Pollution Control Task Force (Satgas).

"There will be representatives from the Environment Agency, the Health Service. The chairman is the Development and Environment Assistant, the Secretary of the Health Service and all members will immediately be informed to the media," he said.

Heru also requires owners of private buildings in the capital city to install water mists and invite all stakeholders, starting from government institutions, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), the private sector, and the general public to participate in overcoming air pollution.

Then, the DKI Provincial Government invites all stakeholders to try to increase the number of green open spaces (RTH) throughout Jakarta.
