JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) said that the Attorney General's Office is the law enforcement agency that is most trusted by the public when compared to other similar institutions.

Based on the results of the LSI survey for the August 2023 period, the AGO occupies the top position of public trust in the category of law enforcement agencies with a figure of 74 percent.

"The most trusted thing about law enforcement is the Attorney General's Office," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

Djayadi explained that as many as 74 percent of respondents admitted to believing in the AGO in law enforcement. This figure consists of 5 percent of respondents who feel very confident and 69 respondents say they believe enough.

Then, as many as 20 percent of respondents admitted that they did not believe it, 1 percent said they did not believe it at all, and 4 percent did not answer.

Following the AGO, in second place is the court with a public confidence figure of 73 percent. Then, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was 68 percent and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) 66 percent.

"The distance is not too far," said Djayadi.

When juxtaposed with other state institutions, the AGO is in third place with 77 percent. The top position is occupied by the Indonesian National Army (TNI) with 92 percent and followed by the President with 89 percent.

"The position is in August 2023. The number one, most trusted, is still the TNI and President," he added.

The LSI survey was conducted on August 3, 2023 with 1,220 respondents who were selected on a multistage random sampling basis. The margin of error of 1,220 respondents was around 2.9 percent at a 95 percent confidence level (assuming a complex random sampling).

The selected respondents were interviewed face-to-face by interviewers who had been trained. The quality control of the interview results was carried out randomly by 20 percent of the total sample by supervisors, by returning to the selected respondents (spot check); no significant error was found from the quality control.
