The Food and Drug Supervisory Lot (POM) of Surakarta City, Central Java, destroyed hundreds of types of traditional drugs without distribution permits in a number of areas in Solo Raya.

"Regarding drugs that were destroyed from three suspects, namely traditional drug distributors without distribution permits and did not meet the provisions. Details of the confiscated products in the form of traditional medicine 571 items or 20,041 types with an economic value of Rp336,861,300," said Head of Loka POM Surakarta Muhammad Fajar Arifin as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

He said one of the findings obtained was the presence of medicinal chemicals in the traditional medicine.

"Consumption of herbal medicine in Solo Raya is still high, there are people who use it by adding chemical medicines that should not be used in traditional medicines," he said.

Therefore, according to him, cross-sectoral monitoring and coordination were carried out. Meanwhile, supervision is carried out in the form of "premarkets" and "postmarkets".

"The 'Premarket' before the drugs circulated, while the 'postmarket' was distributed to drug stores. We also provide counseling so that people are educated because supervision at small stalls requires the role of the community. We cannot intervene in all small shops," he said.

He said that the easiest thing for the community to do is to check the distribution permit. Checking can be done through the BPOM application.

"Sometimes there is a writing of a distribution permit, but it turns out that after checking it doesn't come out," he said.

Meanwhile, several traditional drug distributors without distribution permits and did not meet these provisions are in Sukoharjo Regency and Karanganyar Regency.

"In other places, we found that monitoring continues to be carried out. We are also educating, (finding cases, ed.) are still there, although not as many as before," he said.
