JAYAPURA - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Mamberamo Raya-Jayapura Regency is ready to mediate regarding the submission of disputes regarding the list of temporary candidates (DCS) proposed by three local political parties (political parties), namely PKS, PBB, and the Garuda Party.
Chairman of the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Mamberamo Raya Regency Cornelia H Mamoribo said the three political parties filed disputes regarding the General Election Commission (KPU) decision regarding the determination of DCS for the three.
The three political parties have submitted a request for a process dispute to the Mamberamo Raya Regency Bawaslu so that on Friday tomorrow a trial will be held,” he said in Jayapura, Antara, Thursday, August 24.
According to Cornelia, of the 18 political parties (political parties) in Mamberamo Raya Regency that registered 302 candidates for Legislative Candidates (bakal legislative) as participants in the 2024 General Election, 29 candidates from seven political parties were declared ineligible (TMS) by the KPU's decision on August 18, 2023.
"From the seven political parties that will be legislative candidates, it is stated that TMS has three political parties who come to meet the commissioner of Bawaslu Mamberamo Raya," he said.
He hopes that the mediation will find a common ground so that it does not enter the adjudication (trial). The mediation process carried out is a mandate for the settlement of election process disputes as stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.
“Mediation lasts a maximum of two days. If mediation fails, then this dispute continues to trial. Then, the participants/candidates participating in the election who lost the dispute trial in Bawaslu will still have the right to appeal to the State Administrative Court,” he said again.
He added that his party hopes that by mediating like this, in the future the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) can run smoothly and safely, especially in Mamberamo Raya Regency.
