For Freeport's Initiation, The Red And White Flag Measuring Giants At The Papuan Timika Grassberg Mine

JAKARTA - The giant giant red and white flag measuring 3,431.25 square meters using 17 rollers of red material and 17 rollers of white material stretched across the Grassberg Mine, Timika, Central Papua. The flag-raising activity was carried out on the initiation of PT Freeport Indonesia through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) CauClothing from Bekasi City, West Java, on August 14, 2023. "We are trusted to work on masterpieces for Indonesia's pride in the eyes of the world," said the owner of CauClothing Ferly Raya in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, August 17. The trail shifted the previous record broken by the Kuwait Flag Team of Kuwait which unfurled the flag of the Kuwaiti state measuring 2,742.43 square meters in Al Hamra, Oman, on February 25, 2022.Ferly said the Red and White Flag made from the parachute became a symbol of Indonesian unity and integrity, as well as the offering of the 78th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. "This is a very valuable experience for the rest of my life. This feeling will reach my grandchildren," he said.

CauClothing deployed 50 employees to sew the flag with a total weight of nearly 1 tonne, excluding people to help stretch the pitch before being taken to Mimika.Ferly said after the flag was torn, he immediately sewed the damaged part.The weather above the Grassberg Mine is foggy and often rains with a temperature of one degree Celsius at an altitude of 4,200 feet.

"Tangan jadi sakit dan beku, tapi harus jahit bendera yang sobek karena angin kencang. Prosesnya sangat tidak mudah karena bendera yang sangat besar harus dijahit di lapangan besar," cerita Ferly."Saat siang tim kami kepanasan dan saat malam kedinginan karena dikejar waktu. Setiap hari kami menjahit hingga subuh," imbuhnya.Selain itu pihaknya mengalami tantangan dari sisi pengukuran oleh Guinness World Record yang memiliki banyak persyaratan.Ukuran kain yang sangat besar membuat bendera sangat sulit dibuat tegang. Kondisi itu membuat banyak tercipta gelombang di tanah dan mengurangi panjang kain, sehingga hasil pengukuran dari pihak Guinness World Record menjadi 70x49 meter dari 75x50 meter.
