The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa has prepared five steps to realize a conducive 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
"These five anticipatory steps are important to carry out elections that are orderly, peaceful and conducive. Moreover, the democratic party is always warmly welcomed by the community, including in East Java," Khofifah said while attending the Discussion Forum with the theme "Realizing Clean Elections" in Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 8.
"Therefore, preventive steps are needed to keep the atmosphere conducive," he said.
Khofifah detailed, the first step to realize a conducive 2024 election, all elements of society must avoid politicization of the bureaucracy by placing ASN in a neutral position. In the campaign, the use of state facilities must also be avoided.
Second, avoiding money politics to influence people's choices. Or, help educate the public not to be influenced by money politics.
Third, avoiding the use of hate speech, SARA, hoaxes or black campaigns through mass media and public spaces.
Fourth, every violation must be dealt with firmly in order to produce elections with integrity and quality.
Fifth, all parties must use legal channels in the process of resolving election disputes. That way all conflicts can be resolved fairly and fully transparently.
"To create a conducive atmosphere, I ask for the cooperation of all parties to participate in the success of the 2024 General Election. As ordered by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, the election aims to find a leader. Not to find an enemy," he said.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD on that occasion highlighted the politics of money, fraud and hoaxes or fake news during the 2024 General Election.
According to him, the vulnerability of these three issues has the potential not only to divide the unity of the Indonesian nation but also to reduce community participation in participating in the 2024 General Election.
It was recorded that the level of participation of the Indonesian people during the 2020 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) was 73 percent, which is the largest in history and has never been achieved by any country in the world.
Coordinating Minister Mahfud MD believes that the level of participation of the Indonesian people in the 2024 General Election can be even higher if the politics of money, fraud and hoax news can be denied by their respective awareness.
