KEDIRI - The Education Office (Disdik) of Kediri Regency is still looking for solutions to cause a number of schools in Kediri to get minimal students in the new academic year 2023.

Acting (Plt) Head of the Kediri Regency Education Office, Mokhamat Muhsin, said that there were two Elementary Schools (SD) in the district where there were minimal students, so the government planned to merge.

"One school is in Gurah. Maybe people have a choice of other schools that are more strategic and safe. At the Gurah, right and left are already roads, entering and leaving the road (road)," said Muhsin in Kediri, East Java, Tuesday, July 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

Muhsin explained, SD in Gurah Subdistrict has found that the number of students has decreased, including this year.

"In Gurah it was two or three years ago (the lack of students). Many private schools too. For the government, when schools are not able to get students because they are accommodated in other schools, so there is no problem. What we are worried about is not being able to go to school, there are those in the village who do not go to school," he said.

He also revealed that in other schools the number of students was SD, Reningrejo District. There were no students at that location, so the government plans to merge. The school building will also be used as a vocational school so that students attend other schools.

Currently, his party is still conducting studies regarding the lack of elementary school students at the school. In Kediri Regency, almost in every sub-district there are minimal schools that can be students.

"The education office will introspect why. Right now, there is also a lot of competition for private schools," he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal of SDN Sukorejo, Gurah District, Tri Wahyuni, said that in this new school year the school only received one student. However, this does not affect the teaching and learning process carried out by teachers.

"With one student, the teaching and learning process is still running as it should," he said.
