BIAK NUMFOR - Arrears in clean water accounts covering residents' homes, schools and government offices in Biak Numfor Papua reached Rp11 billion.

The Biak Numfor Regency Government (Pemkab) hopes that the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) War Besrendi Biak will continue to serve needs in Biak.

"The restructuring team for receivables/legations of PDAM together with the Biak Numfor Regency Government continues to seek to collect clean water customers and offices within the regional government," said Assistant II of Biak Numfor Regional Secretary, Lot Yensenem, after receiving the PDAM restructuring team, Friday, July 28, confiscated by Antara.

Yensenem detailed that the net water arrears in Biak Numfor covered a number of active government offices with arrears in bills of Rp. 241 million and non-active government offices of Rp. 327.6 million.

Furthermore, arrears of clean water in school public facilities of Rp. 23 million, non-active schools of Rp. 78 million.

Meanwhile, the net water arrears for residents in Karendi Village amounted to Rp241 million for 59 customers, Mangganesapi Village Rp441 million for 23 customers, Swapodibo Village Rp1.8 billion for 167 customers, Sanumi Village Rp214 million for 26 customers.

Then, Parai Village Rp517 million for 59 customers, Anggrai Village Rp390 million for 38 customers, Mokmer Village Rp1.1 billion, and Manswan Village Rp1.3 billion for 38 customers.

Although he did not explain the details of the efforts that would be made by the Biak Numfor Regency Government in response to this matter. Yensenem ensured that his party continued to encourage Biak PDAM customers, including the local government, to pay for clean water arrears accounts.

"By paying arrears, it can help PDAM finance the operations of the regional company," said Yensenem.

In this case, the Director of PDAM War Besrendi Biak, Hasael Rumabar, has met with the Biak Numfor Regency Government to discuss the restructuring of this clean water account customer receivable. Regarding the results, it is still not explained.

However, based on Antara's observation, PDAM service activities, War Besrendi Biak, are still running to serve clean water needs for thousands of customers of Biak Kota and Samofa Districts.
