An 8-year-old Boy In Riau Who Played Kite Near The River Was Found Drowning Lifelessly

The SAR team found the body of an 8-year-old boy who was playing kites near the Indragiri River in Riau, which resulted in drowning and disappearing.

"The joint team found the victim on Monday at 11.45 WIB (Sunday 23 July), still in the river as far as 2.7 kilometers more than the scene," said Head of the Pekanbaru SAR Office, Budi Cahyadi, to reporters in Pekanbaru, Riau, Monday, July 24, as reported by Antara.

Budi said the body of the victim named Rasyid Al Fatir had been evacuated and handed over to the family for immediate burial.

He reminded parents to increase their vigilance when looking after minors while playing.

"Don't let your child play along the river because it is very dangerous," he said.

Previously, the SAR team received information from Hendriansyah as the village head of Seberang Tembilahan Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, who mentioned Rasyid and his friends playing kites in a mosque near the river on Saturday, July 22 at around 15.00 WIB.

As usual before sunset, the children in the area had returned to their respective homes. However, until 18.00 WIB Rasyid did not come home and Rasyid's parents began to look around the location where their children played. Until 01.00 WIB, Rasyid has not been found.

On Sunday, July 23 at 06.30 WIB, the Village apparatus reported the incident to the joint SAR Team because it was suspected that the victim had fallen into the river.

After taking several hours of searching, on that same day, the joint SAR Team found the victim's body.
