JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that there is a deal or agreement in the form of money when the sale and purchase of land for plantations at PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the search was carried out by examining five witnesses on Tuesday, July 18. The five witnesses examined were PTPN XI Senior Executive VP Operation, Agus Setiono; GM PG Assembagoes, Agus Priambodo; PG Assembagoes Plant Management Assistant, Abdul Azis Wibowo; Researcher of the Indonesian Sugar Plantation Center (P3GI), Arinta Rury Puspitasari; and Head of the P3GI Business Section, Aris Lukito.

"The witnesses were present and their knowledge was investigated, among others, related to the alleged existence of several deals of agreement in the form of a flow of money in the process of buying and selling HGU land for plantations at PTPN XI," Ali said in a written statement, Thursday, July 20.

Ali did not specify how much money was agreed upon in the buying and selling process. However, the statements of these witnesses are believed to make clear the allegations of corruption that are being investigated.

Based on the information gathered, the five were PTPN XI Operations Director Mochamad Cholidi; Head of the Legal and Asset Division of PTPN XI, Muchamad Khoiri; Commissioner of PT Kejayan Mas, Muchin Karli; and two private parties Haliem Hoentoro and Sulianie Anggawidja Haliem.

The five people were prevented from leaving the country for six months until December 2023. However, the KPK could ask the Directorate General of Immigration to extend the effort if needed.
