11 Sick Hajj Participants Evacuated From Mecca To Medina

MADINAH - A total of 11 sick Hajj participants who were previously treated at the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) Mecca were evacuated to Medina on Friday in line with the two-wave Hajj pilgrims displaced to Medina since July 10, 2023.

"We carried out the evacuation of 11 stable sick Hajj participants to KKHI Medina, so that they could immediately gather with the group," said the head of the KKHI Mecca, Dr. Edi Supriyatna, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 16.

The evacuated Hajj participants were previously unable to participate in the transfer with their group to Medina, because during the transfer they were sick and being treated at the KKHI of Mecca or the Saudi Arabian Hospital.

Edi explained that the sick pilgrims who were evacuated were in stable condition and were able to be transferred using land transportation and already had complete documents such as passports and travel documents.

"The main condition of the sick pilgrims who were evacuated to KKHI Madinah is that their condition is stable and transportable," said Edi.

The first evacuation used an ambulance and a minibus with one sick hajj participant and 10 participants who were able to sit down.

Each vehicle used is equipped with medical devices, medicines, and medical supplies.

The sick pilgrims who were evacuated were accompanied by two doctors and three nurses to keep the condition of the Hajj pilgrims stable during the trip.

"In this evacuation, there was one patient who was evacuated using an ambulance and 10 patients were able to sit using a minibus. During the journey, the evacuated patients were accompanied by two doctors and three nurses who were divided into the two vehicles," said Edi.

The first phase of evacuation was dispatched from the KKHI Mecca at 17.00 WAS and arrived at KKHI Madinah at 22.00 WAS. A number of Hajj participants who were declared stable and had a good evaluation by KKHI Madinah were taken to their respective hotels to rejoin their batches.

Sick pilgrims who were evacuated from the KKHI of Mecca will be temporarily transported at the KKHI of Medina with the aim that if there are still health problems, they will be given services at the KKHI of Medina, if they are stable and the results of good evaluation will be returned to their respective groups.
