JAKARTA - Japanese Formula 1 racer Yuki Tsunoda sees 2024 as one of her best seasons while competing in the Formula 1 World Championships.

The value I have given to me this season is 8 out of 10. I admit there are several races where I can perform better. Compared to the last four years, this is one of the best for me, "said Tsunoda through the official Formula 1 website, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, December 26.

Tsunoda started from the top 10 positions in 12 of the 24 Grand Prix held this year, scoring points in nine races, and finishing 12th in the race standings.

The highlights include stunning performances to the third fastest time in the qualifying session for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, along with finishing P7 in Australia, Miami, and Brazil.

I scored more than half a point for the team and was able to show good consistency, and consistently outperform my teammates. Hopefully they can build more trust in me," he said.

"I gave a lot of input to the team to make a better car and we managed to turn things around in a lot of racing. Especially in that area, I went quite well," he added.

Tsunoda's self-assessment was supported by RB Team Director Laurent Mekies, who praised the Japanese racer's "extraordinary" efforts during the 2024 season.

"It was an extraordinary season from his team. I think he has made a move forward this season that no one can predict and that is something he should be proud of," said Mekies.

Tsunoda made his Red Bull test debut at a post-season meeting last week in Abu Dhabi, but the squad has confirmed that his RB team-mate, Liam Lawson, will replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen's partner next year.

Meanwhile, F2 runners-up Isack Hadjar will be promoted with Tsunoda in 2025.
