Eddy Soeparno: PAN Doesn't Choose Erick Thohir Wrongly, His Achievements Are Clear

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Mohammad Eddy Dwiyanto Soeparno emphasized that his party's choice for SOE Minister Erick Thohir to become a Vice President Candidate in the 2024 presidential election contestation was very appropriate.

One of the reasons is that Erick Thohir's achievements were caught by prospective voters who were survey respondents. The latest is the National Survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), the themed Map of Presidential Election Competition and Public Attitudes on National Issues.

Dalam survei tersebut terungkap posisi Erick Thohir tetap berada di peringkat pertama. Direktur Eksekutif LSI Djayadi Hanan bahkan menyebutkan hal itu adalah kejutan karena baru pertama kali dalam survei LSI Erick benar-benar stabil unggung di posisi pertama, melebih Ridwan Kamil dan Sandiaga Uno. Posisi Erick Thohir di rank pertama stabil pada tiga similasi, baik similasi 24 nama, 12, maupun 3 nama.

"The figure of the Vice President (Candidate for Vice President), Alhamdulillah Pak Erick Thohir, has excelled in the survey. This means that PAN did not choose the wrong 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate," said Eddy, in his statement, Tuesday, July 11.

He added that the driving factor that caused Erick Thohir to continue to lead the Cawapres exchange was the fact of his success in dealing with football. Especially PSSI finally managed to win gold at the Sea Games, and Erick was also able to bring in the world champion as well as the world's strongest national team, Argentina, and against Palestine.

"Now in the near future it will host U17. This will be the driving force for Pak Erick's future electability. In addition to other successes, among them are the largest dividends to the country in the history of post-reforming. So it is very valid to convey in a survey where Mr. Erick outperforms his electability," said Eddy.

On that basis, Eddy invited political parties or coalitions of political parties to invite Erick Thohir as a candidate paired with their presidential candidates. Eddy also mentioned that currently, his party has held constructive discussions with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the Gerindra Party.

"The presidential candidates will take the PAN vice presidential candidate, namely Mr. Erick Thohir. Hopefully in the near future in our political dialogue, the discussion of PDI and Gerindra officials together with PAN will produce good news. And constructive talks, Mrs. Mega and Mr. Prabowo, I hope there will also be good news," he said.
