Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the pattern of stunting reduction in Mranggen Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency should be an example for other regions. Treatment provided is proven to reduce stunting rates significantly.

"Here, the pattern of stunting handling is very good. There was one treatment given such as herbs to increase appetite. So when the baby was given a treatment with herbs, it turned out that his appetite was high," said Ganjar after reviewing the stunting handling at Posyandu Pundungsari, Mranggen Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency, Tuesday, July 11.

While at the location, Ganjar witnessed firsthand routine examinations of toddlers and the administration of herbal medicines. In fact, Ganjar directly participated in feeding two stunting toddlers in that place.

Based on information from the local midwife, the herbal medicine is given in stages and every 14 days the baby is weighed with an increase in weight.

In addition, Ganjar also saw data on stunting reduction in the village. In February 2023, there were 97 stunting rates in the village. After treatment using herbal medicine, the figure fell and only 33 children were left.

In fact, specifically at Posyandu Pundungsari, there were zero stunting. In fact, previously there were 6 stunted children at Posyandu Pundungsari.

"Earlier, there were data that was quite good to be displayed, it turned out that almost 55 percent could be handled quickly. So almost 60 percent of it can be taken care of and in Posyandu it is zero," he said.

According to Ganjar, the pattern carried out by Mranggen Village can be imitated and applied elsewhere. Ganjar emphasized that the reduction in stunting must be done together so that it does not take long.

"I believe that if we are serious, we will gang up, this time it only takes 2-3 months. So the simultaneousness is important and this good example can be used elsewhere," he said.

Ganjar also reminded about nutritional intake in infants and toddlers that must be considered. According to him, balanced and optimal nutrition is very important for child growth.

The application of balanced nutrition can be done through cheap and easy-to-come daily foods such as vegetables, side dishes and fruits.
