The Batang Resort Police, Central Java, is ready to support the policy of the National Police Headquarters which will enforce the issuance of a driving license (SIM) by attaching a genuine education certification and driving training issued by accredited driving school.
Head of the Batang Police Traffic Unit, AKP Agus Pardiyono Marinus, said that the requirements for issuing SIM by attaching a driving certificate are not new policies, but old rules that are ready to be enforced.
"Yes, we are ready when technical instructions related to the implementation of this rule have been issued by the Korlantas Polri," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 22.
According to him, in accordance with Police Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of Driving Permits in Article 9 letter a point number 3 states that SIM applicants must attach a photocopy of educational certificates and original driving training issued by accredited driving school, a maximum of 6 months from the date of publication.
"The policy of attaching this driving certificate is only mandatory at the time of making a SIM, but does not apply to residents who will extend the validity period of the SIM," he said.
For SIM owners whose validity period expires until the specified time limit, he continued, applicants are required to follow the procedure for making SIMs from the start, including attaching a driving certificate.
"Therefore, do not let the validity period of the SIM die because later the person concerned must follow the procedure for making a SIM from the start by attaching a driving pass certificate," he said.
Agus Pardiyono Marinus hopes that with the high number of traffic accidents on the highway, the public can pay attention to the importance of driving schools.

Through the driving school, he said, it can increase people's knowledge and ethics in driving so that the number of accidents can be reduced.
"The public's interest in managing SIM is not very high because their level of awareness is still low. The average application for driving licenses is around 40 people per day," he said.
