Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said payments for COVID-19 treatment would be borne by BPJS Kesehatan after the determination of the COVID-19 endemic.

"If you say that you will pay later, that's not it. Because later the payment mechanism will be borne through BPJSHealth," said Muhadjir as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

Muhadjir explained that ASNs are required to pay BPJS Kesehatan.

"For those who are unable to continue to be borne by the government through due recipients (PPI). The contributions borne by the government, we provide a slot of 120 million residents, and now there are still many that have not been absorbed," said Muhadjir.

The statement is an explanation of Muhadjir regarding the payment mechanism for COVID-19 treatment after the president established the status of the endemic.

Previously, President Jokowi reminded the public that the handling of COVID-19 patients was no longer free or borne by the government if there had been a change in status from a pandemic to an endemic.

"This is careful when it comes to endemic if you get COVID-19, pay. Currently it is still borne by the government, once it enters the endemic, don't applaud first, have COVID-19 to pay. The consequences are," said Jokowi.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday, June 21, revoked the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and Indonesia began to enter the COVID-19 endemic period.

"After more than three years of fighting together against the COVID-19 pandemic, since today, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the government has decided to revoke the status of the pandemic and we are starting to enter an endemic period," said President Jokowi.

The decision, said President Jokowi, was taken by the government by considering the number of daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 which was close to nil.

President Jokowi said the survey results showed that 99 percent of Indonesians already have COVID-19 antibodies.

Nevertheless, President Jokowi asked the public to remain careful and continue to carry out healthy and clean living behavior.
