Firer Darul Hikam Meureubo West Aceh Islamic Boarding School Arrested By Police

MEULABOH - Police arrested a man with the initials E (30 years) a resident of a village in West Aceh Regency, related to the burning of a recitation center at the Darul Hikam Islamic Boarding School Complex, Pasi Pinang Village, Meureubo District.

"We have detained the alleged perpetrator after previously undergoing an examination related to the burning of the recitation center at a boarding school," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Aceh Police, Iptu Fachmi Suciandy, to reporters in Meulaboh as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 13.

Iptu Fachmy explained that the arrest of suspect E was carried out by the police after he was strongly suspected of burning the recitation center at the Darul Hikam Islamic Boarding School Complex, Pasi Pinang Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, which occurred last Sunday (4/6).

From the suspect's hands, the police secured a number of evidences including a Yamaha Mio Sporty motorcycle with police number BL 5131 VG, a black jeans and a short-sleeved black t-shirt.

Iptu Fachmy Suciandy explained that suspect E admitted that he deliberately set fire to the recitation center at the pesantren complex, because he admitted that he was uncomfortable with the recitation.

The arson was carried out by the suspect alone, using a lighter, and after carrying out the action the suspect left the scene.

As a result of his actions, a unit of the recitation center in the pesantren complex was burned down.

"The police charged suspect E with Article 187 of the Criminal Code related to intentional arson, with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison," said Iptu Fachmy Suciandy.
