Officially As Member Of The DKI DPRD Gerindra Faction Replaces M Taufik, Bastian Simanjuntak Enters Commission E

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD officially inaugurated Bastian P. Simanjuntak as a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra Interim replacement (PAW) faction with the remaining period 2019-2024. Bastian replaced Mohamad Taufik who died on 3 May. Chairman of the Gerindra faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rani Mauliani, said that Bastian would be placed in Commission E for People's Welfare. This position is the same as Taufik before he died. "Lastly, Mr. Taufik was in Commission E. So, Mr. Bastian joined the position," Rani said at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Wednesday, May 31. With the tenure of Bastian in the remainder of his one-year term, Rani asked Bastian to participate in carrying out his duties as a member of the Gerindra faction, including winning the general chairman, Prabowo Subianto became president in 2024. "If the target is in the faction, all faction members will have the same burden in the future, wherever they go down with the community, work as well as possible, and hopefully in the future bring Pak Prabowo to become president," he explained. Meanwhile, Bastian admitted that he was ready to carry out his duties as an agenda for the council, starting from socializing regional regulations, recesses, to work related to Commission E. "Of course we must always go down to the community, meaning that we absorb the aspirations of the community and so on, council members whose functions are legislative, budgeting, and supervision. We must focus on the welfare and prosperity of the community," explained Bastian. For information, Bastian is a candidate for legislature for the DKI Jakarta DPRD in the 2019 Legislative Election. However, Bastian did not qualify in parliament. Now Bastian replaces Taufik, who has served as a member of the DKI Jakarta parliament from 2014-2019 and 2019-2024. Taufik served as Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from September 2014 to April 2022, then was replaced by Rani Mauliani. In October 2022, Taufik had submitted his resignation as a Gerindra cadre and had not received approval to leave the General Chairperson of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto.

At that time, Taufik's health began to decline due to his illness. The former member of the DKI General Elections Commission (KPU) had been treated to Singapore for some time. Until finally Taufik died in early May.
