JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is reviewing the proposed construction of a replacement tunnel bridge at the 'Manado Outer Ring Road' (MORR) I.

"So the Mayor of Manado has proposed to build a replacement bridge for the tunnel, so we have conveyed it to the Ministry of PUPR for evaluation," said Head of the North Sulawesi National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) Hendro Satrio MK, Antara, Sunday, May 28.

The PUPR Ministry's study relates to whether or not there is a budget for the construction of the bridge.

"So we are still waiting, hopefully we will respond. If not this year, maybe next year the construction will be," said Hendro.

The strong desire to build a replacement bridge for the tunnel is expected to be accompanied by land completion before construction is carried out.

"There has been a statement of free land, hopefully all the land that will be used will be free," he hoped.

He said the construction of the replacement bridge for the tunnel was to unravel the congestion of vehicles that often occur in the mouth of the tunnel when the traffic flow is congested.

Congestion occurs due to only two lanes of roads passing under the tunnel, while the existing outer ring road of Manado (MORR I) has four lanes.

"Hopefully the construction of a replacement bridge for this tunnel can be realized," he said.

It is estimated that the budget absorbed for the construction of the bridge is Rp. 30 billion, while the length of the bridge is about 40 meters.
