141 Rohingya Aceh Besar Refugees Moved To Padang Tiji

ACEH - A total of 141 Rohingya refugees who were in the UPTD Refugee Camp of the Aceh Social Service in Ladong, Mesjid Raya Aceh Besar District were transferred to Padang Tiji, Pidie Regency. "They (Rohingya) were temporarily placed there, while waiting for a decision from the Riau Provincial Government and Medan so that they could be placed in their Rudenim (Immigration Detention Center)," said Banda Aceh Police Chief Kombes Fahmi through the Krueng Raya Police Chief Ipda Rolly Yuiza Away, in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, May 4. The process of transferring Rohingya refugees was specially escorted by the police and other relevant agencies. Hundreds of illegal immigrants from Myanmar were transferred to the Minaraya Foundation in Gampong Leun Tanjong. They consist of 80 men and 61 women. Rolly said the Rohingya immigrants were dispatched using three buses and three Hiace passenger cars. Meanwhile, their belongings were transported using Reo Satpol PP and WH Aceh trucks as well as trucks belonging to the Aceh Social Service. "This transfer is escorted by the Samapta Patrol Unit of the Banda Aceh Police along with the Satpol PP and WH, including the IOM. Thank God the activities are running safely and smoothly," he said. Rolly said the transfer of refugees was carried out after the police received a request for escort from the Foreign Refugee Handling Task Force (PPLN) via a letter sent.

"They have to be transferred because the UPTD Aceh Ladong Social Service will be used for other activities (the development of the homeless)," said Rolly.
