PPP Announces Ganjar Candidate, KIB Schedules Meeting At Airlangga's House Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The United Development Party (PPP), officially announced the Governor of Central Java who is also a PDI-P cadre, Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for president (candidate) who will be supported in the upcoming 2024 presidential election (pilpres). After the announcement, PAN Secretary General Eddy Soeparno, revealed that the general chairman of the political parties who are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) scheduled a meeting at the residence of the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, on Thursday, April 27, tomorrow. The meeting, said Eddy, was to discuss the position of KIB as well as the names that will be promoted as presidential candidates of the Golkar, PAN and PPP coalitions in the 2024 presidential election.

"In the meeting between the KIB chairman which will be held tomorrow Thursday at Pak Airlangga's residence, we will discuss intensively the position of KIB, the position of each party in KIB regarding his views on the presidential election. Who will be the priority driven by the KIB party will certainly be discussed," said Eddy to reporters, Wednesday, April 26.

Nevertheless, Eddy stated, as a coalition partner in KIB, PAN respects the PPP decision that has officially brought Ganjar. Later, he said, KIB will seek deliberation and consensus to equalize the perception of who the presidential and vice presidential candidates will be.

"We prioritize togetherness and consensus deliberation to equalize the perception of who will be encouraged by the presidential or vice presidential candidates from KIB and the National Coalition in the future. We hope that there will be some time ahead," he explained. According to Eddy, talks about the 2024 presidential election in the future will also involve the PDI-P. Especially related to the plan to form the National Coalition which was initiated by five political party leaders supporting the government.

"We believe that future talks will include PDIP," he said. It is known, Ganjar's announcement as a PPP presidential candidate took place in Sleman, Yogyakarta, which started at 15.00 WIB along with people's market activities.

Plt Chairman of PPP Muhamad Mardiono said Ganjar's election as a PPP presidential reading had gone through deliberation and in-depth studies as a result of the V PPP DPP National Leadership Meeting which was held on 23-25 April 2023. "By saying bismillahirrohmanirrohim, the United Development Party decided Mr. H. Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate for the Republic of Indonesia in the upcoming 2024 general election," said Acting Chairman of PPP Mardiono during the presidential candidate announcement, Wednesday, April 26.
