Gerindra Admits Jokowi's Endorse Boosts Prabowo's Electability

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon, acknowledged that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's support was important to boost the electability of Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto towards the 2024 presidential election.

Although, said Fadli Zon, Jokowi's support is not the only one that has made Prabowo's electability increase recently.

"Although of course support from anywhere, including from him (President Jokowi) I think it is very important. But the most important thing is the support from the people," said Fadli Zon in his statement, Monday, April 23.

Fadli Zon also agrees with President Jokowi who has emphasized that Prabowo's increase in electability is not due to Jokowi's endorsement. According to him, Prabowo's electability has increased due to the work of Prabowo and the Gerindra Party.

Therefore, said Fadli Zon, he is not too worried that Jokowi will finally tend to support Ganjar Pranowo, who has officially been promoted by PDIP as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

"I think it's like Pak Jokowi also said that Pak Prabowo's electability is mostly due to Gerindra and Pak Prabowo himself. That's right. Pak Jokowi's statement," said Fadli Zon.

Furthermore, Fadli Zon emphasized that Gerindra did not rule out communicating and collaborating with other parties, including PDIP. According to him, communication and cooperation with all elements of the nation is important for a better Indonesia in the future.

"I think political relations are always open. I think Gerindra can communicate with anyone, with any political parties, with all the existing elements," he said.

"So it is very open to communication and political dynamics going forward, I think it is also possible that many things can happen beyond our expectations," continued Fadli Zon.
