Urine Test, 2 Homecoming Transportation Drivers In Lhokseumawe Aceh Positive For Drugs

Two public transport drivers tested positive for drugs after undergoing a urine test held by joint officers to ensure the safety of land transportation during the Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah homecoming at the Type A Terminal Lhokseumawe, Aceh.

Head of Traffic Unit AKP Adek Taufik in Lhokseumawe, the urine examination was carried out on Wednesday (20/4) night from 22.00 to 00.00 WIB.

Joint officers examined 27 bus drivers, both Inter-City Inter-Provincial (AKAP) buses and also for the Intercity In-Provincial Minibus (AKDP) type.

"Of the total 27 public transport drivers who underwent urine checks, two of them tested positive for illegal drugs containing Methamphetamine," said Adek as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 20.

Adek Taufik added that after testing positive for using drugs, the driver was no longer allowed to drive the vehicle for a while, while the vehicle he was driving was replaced by another driver.

"To the driver who is positive for using drugs, this is not legally processed, because we do not have enough evidence. However, an understanding of the dangers of drugs will still be given," he said.

The urine examination collaborated with Jasa Raharja, the Lhokseumawe City Transportation Service, and the Lhokseumawe Type A Terminal and the health team.

He said the urine test was carried out to anticipate traffic accidents caused by drug abuse among public transport drivers. His party will continue to monitor the drivers, among others by conducting urine tests.

"Vehicle drivers are advised not to use any type of drug, because it violates the law and also endangers themselves and others," he said.
