PALANGKARAYA - The Narcotics Research Unit of the Palangkaraya Police arrested a narcotics dealer with the initials AR (43). From the hands of the suspect, the police confiscated 1 kilogram (kg) of methamphetamine as evidence and was threatened with 20 years in prison.

Palangkaraya Police Chief Kombes Pol Budi Santosa said the suspect weighing more than one kilogram of methamphetamine and 386 ecstasy pills belonging to the suspect had now been confiscated from the suspect's residence when he was raided last Thursday around 19.30 p.m. of Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Jalan Hiu Putih IX, Bukit Tunggal Village, Jekan Raya District.

"The article applied to the suspect, namely Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 Concerning Narcotics, carries a minimum threat of six years imprisonment and a maximum of 20 years," Budi Santosa was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 21.

He explained, prior to the arrest of the suspect, initially members of the Palangka Raya Police Narcotics Satres arrested a methamphetamine owner with the initials MAR (27) on Jalan Manyar III Palangka Raya City on Thursday (9/2) at around 17.55 p.m. WIB.

After arresting MAR, the police immediately developed the catch, leading to AR's house on Jalan Hiu Putih IX. At that time the police searched the house until they found 12 large packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 1.142 grams and 386 ecstasy pills.

"From the testimony of eyewitnesses who inhabited the house owned by AR, it was confirmed that all of the items belonged to the suspect and then the person concerned fled because he knew the police were coming," he said.

After that, continued Budi Santosa, the Palangka Raya Police Narcotics Unit issued a wanted person list (DPO) to AR. On Monday (13/2) at around 21.30 WIB, AR, who was known to be hiding, was successfully secured by the Tigers BARBAR (Banjar Baru Barat) Polsek Liang Agang Polres Banjar Baru together with Satres Narcotics Polresta Palangka Raya.

The methamphetamine dealer was arrested at the suspect's residence on Jalan Guntung Manggis Perum Harapan Block O, Liang Agang sub-district, Kota Baru, South Kalimantan.

"We secured the perpetrator without resistance at his residence. After securing the person concerned, we took him to the Palangka Raya Police for further development," he said.

Apart from that, during February 2023 the Palangkaraya Police Narcotics Unit Satres managed to arrest six suspected methamphetamine drug owners.

Now the six suspects are also languishing in the local Mapolresta detention center, in order to be held accountable for their actions so far.
