The 2023 Flood Management Project in Surabaya is in the Auction Stage

JAKARTA - The flood prevention project in the form of drainage construction in the City of Surabaya, East Java in the 2023 fiscal year is still in the bidding stage.

Kabid Pematusan Surabaya City Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), Eko Juli Prasetyo, in Surabaya, Thursday, said that this year's work was not much different from last year.

"But this year there is the construction of a new pump house as well as repairs to secondary and tertiary channels on arterial roads," said Eko, reported by Antara, Thursday, February 9.

Meanwhile, the current budget for the construction of drainage projects in Surabaya has been increased from IDR 541 billion in 2022 to IDR 867 billion in 2023.

In this regard, Member of Commission C for the Development Sector of the Surabaya City Council, Buchori Imron, said that it would be appropriate if the bidding process for the drainage project was carried out from January to February 2023.

"At the beginning of the auction year, in early March, the work has already been carried out. This is for an auction for a drainage project with a fairly large project value," said Buchori.

He explained, when the drainage work was carried out in April, it had to be completed by the middle of that year for a drainage project with quite a large value.

Meanwhile, if the drainage project is of little value or is only a support such as in the villages, he also said, then the work in the middle of the year is not a problem.

"Because it can be revised during PAK (Changes to the Financial Budget). But if the project has been purely budgeted, it must be done from the start. That was an agreement between the council and the relevant agencies when discussing the Regional Budget (APBD)," he said again.

For this reason, Buchori emphasized that the project with a value of billions of rupiah must be completed at least next June, or a maximum of August 2023. If the work is not completed, it will disrupt other projects.

"Because, in November, all projects must be finished, there will be no more arrears in work," he said.
