3 Villages In Sangihe Regency Flooded Up To 1 Meter, BPBD Checks Damage Impact

North Sulawesi - Rain with high intensity caused three villages in Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi), to be flooded on Wednesday, January 25 in the early hours of the morning.

"The three villages that have experienced flooding are Dagho Village in Tamako District and Kaluwatu and Laine Villages in Manganitu Selatan District," said BPBD Head Sangihe Wandu Labesi, in Tahuna, North Sulawesi, Wednesday, January 25, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the Sangihe Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) team is currently at the disaster site to see firsthand the condition of the community.

"The Sangihe BPBD team is currently at the location to identify the damage caused by the flood disaster," he said.

In this incident, he said, a number of government facilities such as bridges were damaged including residents' houses.

"We are still recording the amount of losses, but in this incident, there were no casualties, while the water level in Laine Village, which previously reached 1 meter, has now receded," he said.

He appealed to the people in the area to remain cautious toward extreme weather that continues to occur.

"We still urge residents to be cautious, because the rain is still flushing Sangihe Regency," he said.

Head of Tamako sub-district, Albert Takasaping, said that the flood occurred on Wednesday, January 25 at 02.00 WITA when residents were sleeping soundly.

"Residents were shocked when they woke up in the middle of the night, their houses were already inundated with water," said the Head of Takasaping Sub-District.
