Donald Trump Chooses South Carolina as a Venue for His Inaugural Nomination Campaign for the 2024 US Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Former President of the United States from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, who decided to take part in the 2024 United States Presidential Election (Pilpres), will immediately start his campaign.

Donald Trump's campaign team announced on Tuesday that Melania's husband will begin his nomination campaign in the State of South Carolina on January 28, reported Reuters on January 18.

Previously, Trump announced his plans to contest the 2024 US Presidential Election last November.

The plan is for Trump to be accompanied by two Republican politicians from South Carolina, namely US Senator who is also a loyal supporter of Lindsey Graham and Governor Henry McMaster, when introducing his campaign team at the South Carolina State House located in Columbia City.

For years, South Carolina was one of the earliest states to stage a presidential campaign, so it was judged to have had a huge impact.

Trump has fond memories of 2016, when South Carolina became the third state after Iowa and New Hampshire. Her statewide win at the time, helped solidify her status as the front-runner for the Republican Party.

Not only Trump, Incumbent President Joe Biden also has fond memories of this state. Victory in the state's primary in 2020 was a key turning point for her candidacy, after her poor showing in the previous two campaigns.

Meanwhile, Democrats, with the backing of President Biden, recently took steps to make South Carolina their first primary campaign location in 2024.

Republicans have voted to maintain the traditional order for the first three states on the campaign agenda: Iowa, New Hampshire, and then South Carolina.

In the run for the upcoming 2024 US Presidential election, two Republican politicians from South Carolina, former Governor Nikki Haley and US Senator Tim Scott, are seen as potential Republican rivals to Trump.
