IKN Trials Flying Cars Starting in 2024

JAKARTA - Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi said flying car trials would be carried out at IKN in 2024.

"So later there will also be a test, the test will be at the IKN, the plan is for 2024", said Prof. Ali as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 30.

Prof. Ali said OIKN and Hyundai Motor Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together to build an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) smart mobility ecosystem in Indonesia.

The cooperation aims to develop flying cars. This development is the first time for Indonesia, while in the world the flying car concept is also still under development.

"So there are already stages, the steps starting from the joint study, joint research, we are doing this to mean that we hope we will become one of the development centers", said Prof. Ali.

Flying cars will resemble drones that can be loaded with passengers and goods. One of its functions is to make it easier to reach areas that are difficult to reach by road and hills.

This flying car technology has not yet been mass-produced, so it still requires various developments.

Furthermore, Prof. Ali said that currently, OIKN is developing technology that can be used for 2035, including flying cars.

Prof. Ali hopes that in the future Indonesia can become an actor in the development of flying cars.

"So building this city is not for 2024, I am building a city for 2045, so the technology is for that. Now if you think about flying cars it's a bit confusing, but 2035 is already", said Prof. Ali.

"We are one of the pioneers of technology development. We do that, we make a technological leap at IKN, that's the message we convey", he continued.
