Firli Bahuri's Presence With Lukas Enembe In Jayapura Can Be Perceived As Giving Privileges

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo assessed that Firli Bahuri's presence in Jayapura to meet the alleged corruption suspect, Lukas Enembe, could create perceptions. Moreover, there has never been a KPK Chairperson to do something similar.

"It's not good in the eyes of the public because the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has never visited a suspect before. Later it will be perceived that there are privileges, this will certainly be a precedent for other suspects asking for the same thing to be visited by the chairman," said Yudi, quoted from his Twitter account, @yudiharahap46, Friday, November 4th.

Yudi considered that Firli should not have participated in the trip carried out by the KPK team. Even if there are high-ranking officials, only the director level is sufficient.

Moreover, the presence of the team was actually there to ensure Lukas's health condition. "Let the investigators do their job, even if they are accompanied by the top level, it is enough for the director of the investigation," he said.

Moreover, the KPK leadership is actually only tasked with monitoring and deciding on the continuation of the investigation into allegations of corruption based on existing conditions.

"My experience when conducting second opinion activities with sick suspects is enough for investigators with IDI," said Yudi.

As previously reported, a team consisting of KPK doctors and the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) and investigators met Lukas Enembe on Thursday, November 3. Investigations related to the alleged corruption carried out by Lukas have also been carried out.

However, because Lukas was sick, the examination was immediately completed. The team of doctors has also confirmed the health condition of the suspected corruption suspect.
