JAKARTA - The Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that no police officers were involved in hacking the digital accounts belonging to the Narasi TV editor.

"There are no allegations (of hacking)," said Dedi Prasetyo, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 29.

He said the National Police had obtained information regarding the hacking case experienced by employees of Mata Najwa and Narasi TV.

In fact, Dedi claimed to have coordinated with the Press Council regarding the hacking case and asked the hacking victims to make a police report to the Polda Metro Jaya.

"I have coordinated with the Press Council to be able to report to the police regarding the hacking," said Dedi.

Separately, the Head of the Public Information Section of the National Police, Kombes Nurul Azizah, appealed to the public to be aware of hacking attempts that have been rampant lately by securing their personal data.

"The public should also be vigilant by taking steps to secure their personal data," said Nurul.

Earlier on Wednesday (28/9), Director of Amnesty International Indonesia Usman Hamid asked the National Police to investigate allegations of its members hacking data belonging to Najwa Shihab and a number of Narasi TV employees.

"Ask law enforcement officials to be proactive in investigating this hacking incident and immediately find the perpetrators and investigate thoroughly," said Deputy Chairman of the Press Council M. Agung Dharmajaya in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/9).

The Press Council received reports from several constituents that there had been hacking of the digital accounts of tens of the Narasi editorial team. This incident is the biggest hacking event ever experienced by the mass media.
