Ahead Of Rainy Season, DKI BPBD Enlists The Flood Management Equipment

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is preparing for the 2022-2023 rainy season. Now, the DKI BPBD is starting to collect data on supporting equipment for flood management as an anticipation of the impact of the disaster.

Head of DKI Jakarta BPBD Isnawa Adji said the equipment included the number of boats, refugee tents, APAR (light fire extinguishers), hydrants, ambulances, and medical personnel.

"We are currently collecting data on all elements of the pentahelix, namely the government, the business world, institutions/communities, academics, and the mass media to be able to find out the supporting equipment owned by each element in disaster management, especially floods and fires," Isnawa said in his statement, Wednesday, September 21.

For this reason, Isnawa invites all parties to actively participate in collecting data on disaster management resources.

It is hoped that in the future, BPBD can map and organize all potential resources that support disaster management in Jakarta so that it can respond to disaster events effectively and efficiently.

"We are coordinating to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, so that all of them can be ready and alert to face the rainy season this year," Isnawa said.

Based on the forecast released by the BMKG regarding the rainy season in Indonesia in 2022/2023, some areas in South Jakarta and East Jakarta will begin to enter the beginning of the rainy season in the second month of October 2022.

For other regions, it is predicted that the rainy season will start in the third month of November 2022. Meanwhile, the peak of the rainy season is predicted to occur in January-February 2023.

In addition, Isnawa said that his party also made various efforts to anticipate the 2022/2023 rainy season and disaster management, including:

1. Disseminate the latest weather information and water level conditions (TMA) to the public through social media channels and websites.

2. Provide early warning information regarding the increase in TMA through the disaster early warning system (DEWS) and SMS blast, as well as weather early warnings through the website, social media, WhatsApp group, and Telegram channel.

3. Distribute facilities and infrastructure to support flood management to every sub-district located in flood-prone areas, such as boats, ring buoys, to life jackets.

4. Prepare 267 disaster management/TRC personnel in every kelurahan in Jakarta as an effort to accelerate disaster coordination and management.

5. Ensure the readiness of disaster management posts and evacuation sites (and supporting equipment) at the city/district administration, sub-district, and village levels to be ready and can be activated in the event of a disaster.

6. Reviewing the contingency plan for flood prevention in DKI Jakarta Province.

7. Coordinate with BNPB, BMKG, Mayors/Regents, and all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in disaster management.
