Ukrainian Troops Continue To Advance In The East, President Zelensky: The Invaders Are Panicking Obviously

JAKARTA - Ukraine says its troops are continuing to advance in eastern areas left by Russian troops, opening the way for possible attacks on Moscow troops in the Donbas.

"The invaders are clearly panicking," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a televised address on Monday evening.

President Zelensky added that he was now focused on the "speed" of Ukrainian troops in the liberated areas.

"The speed at which our troops move. The speed at which life is restored to normal," President Zelensky continued.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian leader also hinted he would use a video address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday to call on countries to speed up arms and aid deliveries.

"We are doing everything to ensure Ukraine's needs are met at all levels - defense, financial, economic, diplomatic," President Zelensky said.

Separately, the Ukrainian armed forces have regained full control of the village of Bilohorivka, and are preparing to retake all of Lugansk province from Russian invaders, provincial governor Serhiy Gaidai said.

The village is just 10 km (6 miles) west of the city of Lysychansk, which fell to the Russians after weeks of heavy fighting in July.

"There will be a battle for every centimeter," Gaidai wrote on Telegram.

"The enemy is preparing their defenses. So we won't just go in," he continued

Lugansk and the neighboring province of Donetsk comprise the eastern industrial area of ​​Donbas, which Moscow says it will seize as the main objective of what it calls special military operations in Ukraine.

Ukrainian troops have begun to rush into Lugansk, since driving Russian troops out of the northeastern province of Kharkiv, in a swift counter-offensive this month.

Separately in the south, where other Ukrainian counter-offensives have progressed more slowly, the Ukrainian armed forces said they had sunk a barge carrying Russian troops and equipment while crossing a river near Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region.

"Attempts to build the crossing failed to withstand fire from Ukrainian forces and were halted," the military wrote in a statement on Facebook.
