JAKARTA - Head of the Low Carbon Energy and Infrastructure Team at the British Embassy Jakarta, Ianto Jones said that the London authorities will help finance the installation of solar panels as an energy source in dozens of hospitals in Jakarta.

He conveyed this during the joint launch of the new Climate Action Implementation (CAI) program and a sustainable infrastructure project led by the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF).

In his remarks, Ianto said that London not only spent money but also helped in accessing the installation of solar panels.

"For DKI Jakarta, UK (United Kingdom) will help the city increase regulations on green buildings, increase greenhouse inventories and projects related to the hospital and solar panel financing process and help access solar panel installations in all provinces (in Jakarta)", he said. Ianto at the Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, September 6.

According to Ianto, Jakarta is a city that is quite well known in London because it is seen as an ambitious climate improvement target. Therefore, London is interested in discussing acceleration and transformation to shape Jakarta as a sustainable future city.

"Jakarta and the C40 city play an important role in dealing with climate problems internationally and in the city. We support DKI Jakarta to realize its extraordinary climate ambitions through technical assistance and collaboration", said Ianto.

Ianto explained that renewable energy is the cheapest and cleanest energy. According to him, nearly two-thirds of solar and wind projects are aimed at generating the cheapest and most renewable energy that will change energy options on a global scale and increase employment.

Therefore, London is committed to strengthening collaboration with Jakarta and pushing for a zero-emission target by 2030.

"Through this partnership, the UK is committed to supporting DKI Jakarta to achieve the net zero target. I continue the hope from my governor who was unable to attend, hopefully, in the years ahead we can pave the way to reach net zero and inspire C40", he explained.
