SURABAYA - Prabowo Subianto's electability with the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo is in a tight competition as the 2024 presidential candidate in East Java.

This picture is based on the results of a survey conducted by the survey institute Surabaya Survey Center (SSC) on August 1-10, 2022 in 38 regencies/cities in East Java.

"Ganjar and Prabowo are competing fiercely for electability in East Java, although other names have followed, such as Anies Baswedan and Khofifah. However, the percentage of them is still far behind Ganjar and Prabowo," said SSC Director Mochtar Wahyu Oetomo when releasing the results of the survey in Surabaya, Monday, August 29.

In the electability survey, Ganjar Pranowo topped the survey results with an achievement of 25 percent, followed by Prabowo Subianto with 18.2 percent, Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Anies Baswedan with 7.5 percent each, and also Tri Rismaharini 5.8 percent.

Meanwhile, other names that appear are still below 5 percent, such as Ridwan Kamil at 4.6 percent, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at 4.5 percent, Puan Maharani at 3.3 percent, Erick Thohir at 2 percent, Sandiaga Uno and Muhaimin. Iskandar both 1.8 percent.

"Then there are Mahfud MD with 1 percent, Airlangga Hartanto with 0.8 percent, Hari Tanoe S. and Gatot Nurmantyo both 0.4 percent, Surya Paloh with 0.2 percent, while Muldoko with 0.1 percent," he said.

However, the man who is also a lecturer at Trunojoyo University, Madura, revealed that the presidential candidate exchange is still very open.

According to him, the characters and names that appear still have plenty of time to improve their electability.

"Until now, based on this survey, it is known that there is still 15.1 percent who have not made a choice. Of course, this can also change the electability of presidential candidates depending on who can attract the hearts of the people of East Java," he said.

In the survey, it is also known that the public's tendency regarding the choice of parties will automatically support the presidential candidates promoted by political parties.

According to SSC Senior researcher, Surokim Abdussalam, there is 49.2 percent of respondents answered "not necessarily" in making their choice.

"While those who answered 'yes, definitely' were 36.4 percent. Even around 5.9 percent of respondents answered 'no', and 8.5 percent who answered they didn't know," he said.

Surokim, who is also the Dean of FISIB, Trunojoyo University, Madura, said this result was still within the reasonable level, considering that the election was still 2 years away.

"Of course, respondents still can't really confirm, but at least this is an interesting picture for the parties carrying the presidential/vice presidential candidates in the upcoming 2024 election," he said.

This SSC survey was carried out on August 1-10 2022 in 38 districts/cities in East Java. A total of 1,200 respondents were selected using the stratified multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 2.83 percent.

This survey has a confidence level of 95 percent. Determination of respondents in each Family Card (KK) is done with the help of the kish grid.
