Stop By Sarinah August 15-31, There Will Be An Exhibition Of Buick-8 And Cadillac Cars Belonging To Soekarno To Jokowi

JAKARTA - The Presidential Palace is holding a presidential car exhibition at the Sarinah Building, Central Jakarta, starting Monday, August 15 in commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence (HUT RI).

"Monday there will be a car exhibition in Sarinah which will be opened by the Minister of SOEs (Erick Thohir)", said Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, August 12.

The presidential car exhibition to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day will be held from August 15 to August 31, 2022.

The presidential car that will be exhibited at Sarinah is the official vehicle of the heads of state from the seven periods of the Indonesian government. Therefore, said Heru, there will also be presidential cars in the era of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, such as the Buick-8 and Cadillac.

"Then, there is one that is stored in the DKI Jakarta Regional Government, the car that is stored in the museum, we will also take it for the exhibition", he said.

The cars will be exhibited, and the public can take pictures in front of the historic vehicle.

In addition to the presidential car, the Palace will also exhibit presidential archives such as photo and video documentation of the state that most people have never seen.

Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) Setya Utama previously explained that the presidential archive and car exhibition had the theme 'Indonesia Answers'.

"So we will display archives in the form of photo documentation, videos, as well as documents that perhaps the public has never seen and we will emphasize more on how the seven presidents responded to the crises and challenges of their respective times", added Setya.

Furthermore, on August 17, 2022, at the peak of the commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, the Presidential Palace will hold two ceremonies, namely the Red and White flag raising ceremony which starts at 09.45 WIB by inviting around 1,000-2,000 residents to witness live at the Merdeka Palace.

Then in the afternoon starting at around 15.00 WIB, the Palace will hold a ceremony to lower the Red and White flag with around 3,000 people who can follow it directly.

This year is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Presidential Palace has openly held an Independence Anniversary Ceremony by inviting the public directly. Heru ensured that the Presidential Palace would implement strict health protocols when holding the 77th Independence Day Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia.
