Indonesia Adds 3 Countries In Special Travel Visas On Arrival, Total Now 75 Countries

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has added three countries that can use a visit visa on arrival or a special tourist visa on arrival (VoA).

"The three countries are Colombia, the Maldives, and Monaco", said the Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Achmad Nur Saleh in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 27.

This provision is stated in Circular Letter Number IMI-0650.GR.01.01 of 2022. With the addition of these three countries, the total list of VoA specifically for tourism issued by Indonesia is 75 countries.

Saleh emphasized that the subject of visa-free facilities for special tourist visits remained in nine countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Saleh explained the use of VoA and visa-free visits for foreigners who want to travel. However, if the activity is not by the provisions, it can be subject to sanctions according to Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.

He said that the application for VoA specifically for tourism could be at the arrivals area at the air, land, and sea entrances.

The conditions that must be attached, he said, include a minimum passport that is still valid for 6 months, flight tickets leaving Indonesian territory, as well as proof of payment, and a certificate of COVID-19 vaccine.

He mentioned that the fee for applying for a visit visa upon arrival for special tours is IDR 500 thousand and payment can be made in US dollars or rupiah.

"VoA can be extended once so that the total period of stay is 60 days", he said.

In addition to adding the subject of VoA, the Government through the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) also opened 46 immigration checkpoints (TPI).

Dozens of TPIs can provide VoA services as well as 120 TPIs that accept foreign arrivals subject to visa-free visits (BVK).
