BPBD Lebak Ensures No Damage From The 4.2 M Earthquake In Bayah Banten

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 in Bayah on the evening of Sunday, July 17 did not cause any damage to infrastructure, markets, schools, and houses. This assurance was conveyed by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency.

"So far, we have not received any reports of damage to infrastructure or injured victims in Bayah District as the epicenter of the tectonic earthquake", said Head of the Lebak BPBD Emergency and Logistics Section, Agus Reza Faisal, when contacted Monday, July 18.

The earthquake did not cause a tsunami wave, but the people of the southern coast of Lebak were asked to continue to increase their vigilance to reduce the risk of disaster.

Because, he said, the southern coastal area of ​​Lebak is also prone to tectonic earthquakes. The earthquake, which was centered in Bayah Sub-district, was felt to reach the coast of Labuan, Pandeglang Regency.

"We guarantee that the earthquake in Bayah with a magnitude of 4.2 is relatively safe", he said.

Luckily, he said, the tremors of the earthquake were only for a few seconds so it did not cause damage to infrastructure and casualties or injuries.

"We ensure that the tectonic earthquake is relatively safe and does not cause damage to houses", Agus said, according to Antara.

Meanwhile, Edi Junaedi (55), a resident of Bayah admitted that he and his family carried out activities as usual and were not affected by the earthquake, especially since their house was only a few meters away from the beach.

He also said that the coastal communities in the area did not panic and were used to tectonic earthquakes.

"We guarantee that the magnitude 4.2 earthquake is safe and does not panic nor does it cause a tsunami", he said.
