Responding To Lili Pintauli's Urge To Be Investigated Regarding Acceptance Of MotoGP Tickets, KPK: There Has Been No Proven Ethical Violation

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the investigation into the alleged gratification against Lili Pintauli Siregar for receiving accommodation and tickets for the Mandalika MotoGP could not be carried out. The reason is, that he hastily resigned from his position as Deputy Chairman of the KPK during an ethics trial.

"With no trial, it cannot be proven whether the examinee is proven to have committed an ethical violation or not. Especially when it comes to criminal allegations", said KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, July 13.

He also emphasized that Lili's resignation was legal based on the applicable regulations. Moreover, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has issued a Presidential Decree (Keppres) concerning the Dismissal of the KPK Leaders.

This was the reason why the KPK Supervisory Board decided that Lili's alleged acceptance was void. Because he is no longer a member of the KPK.

"With the resignation of the Chairperson of the KPK, Mrs. Lili Pintauli Siregar, which has been approved by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, her status is no longer a member of the commission", said Ali.

Previously reported, several parties encouraged the KPK Supervisory Board to report the acceptance of the MotoGP viewing facility by former KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar.

This is important so that the investigation of the alleged gratification can be carried out. This pressure came from several anti-corruption activists, including Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW).

"The Supervisory Board must forward the initial evidence it has to law enforcement officers if there is a strong suspicion that gratification is considered a bribe", said Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement, Tuesday, July 12.
