Deceived By Brokers, Housing Project For Airport Employees In Purworejo Costs The State IDR 23 Billion

SEMARANG - The Central Java High Prosecutor's Office stated that the state's loss in land acquisition for a housing project for employees of the Yogyakarta International Airport in Purworejo Regency reached IDR 23 billion.

Special Assistant for Crimes at the Central Java High Prosecutor's Office, Sumurung Pandapotan Simaremare, said the alleged corruption began with the procurement of 25 hectares of land by Angkasa Pura I Employee Welfare Foundation in 2016.

In handling this case, he continued, there was already one person who was named a suspect with the initials AS, a resident of Sewon, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. He is a broker in the land acquisition process.

Pandapotan explained that the land acquisition committee from the Angkasa Pura I Employee Welfare Foundation when surveying the official housing construction project met with the US who offered the land in Bapangsari Village, Begelan District, Purworejo Regency.

From that meeting, he said, it was agreed to purchase a land area of 25 hectares for IDR 200 thousand per square meter. "During the negotiations, the land acquisition committee did not meet directly with the land owner", he said in Semarang, Antara, Thursday, June 23.

During the trip, the procurement committee paid around IDR 23 billion of the total budget prepared of IDR 50 billion. "It turns out that the land being sold is unclear. The party who has paid cannot control the land", he said.

The suspect himself was subsequently charged with Law Number 31 of 1999 which was amended and added to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption.

Pandapotan confirmed that there would be additional suspects in the investigation of this corruption case.
