JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR RI together with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) and the Honorary Council for General Elections (DKPP) reaffirmed that the Simultaneous Elections will still be held on February 14, 2024.

"And the simultaneous national voting day in the election of governors and deputy governors, regents and deputy regents, mayors and deputy mayors simultaneously in 2024 is Wednesday 27 November 2024," said Chairman of Commission II DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia in a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs and election organizers. at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 13.

Doli asked the KPU, Bawaslu and DKPP to become organizers with integrity, independence, independence and professionalism to make the 2024 Simultaneous General Election and Pilkada successful.

Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said President Joko Widodo would issue a presidential regulation (perpres) related to logistics procurement for the 2024 election. Tito said the presidential regulation was a form of the government's commitment to support the implementation of the election.

"Mr. President is also ready to make a specific presidential regulation regarding the procurement of election logistics. I think this is one of the government's commitments to support the election," said Tito at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 13.

Tito said Jokowi had instructed his subordinates to prepare regulations related to logistics procurement for the election. As long as, he said, it was not against the law.

"He has ordered the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and all of us, as long as it does not conflict with the law, to prepare regulations from the government level. One of them is the problem of procurement of goods and services, logistics for elections," he said.

Tito then asked the KPU to draw up the 2024 election budget effectively and efficiently. He reminded that currently, the government is still in the stage of economic recovery due to the COVID-19 storm.

"We are also still in the stage of economic recovery, economic recovery, many are also affected I think are unemployed and others," explained Tito.

In addition, Tito also mentioned the national strategic program by the government which also costs money. One of them is the division of the province in Papua.

"And also many national strategic programs as well as programs in the regions that have not been completed and also cost money. Not to mention there will be the expansion in Papua, for example. This will cost money," said Tito.

Meanwhile, KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said that his party agreed with the Presidential Regulation regarding the procurement of logistics for the 2024 election, although within certain limits.

"Regarding the logistics procurement, the Minister of Home Affairs said that the President would issue a Presidential Regulation on the procurement of election logistics," said Hasyim.

"(KPU agrees) within certain limits," he added.

Because, he continued, during the situation before the COVID-19 pandemic, the procurement of election logistics had a time duration. But now, according to him, the presidential regulation is needed in terms of time and the election mechanism can be shortened.

"Because if the situation is normal, it means normal procurement, there are time durations, then in the context of a special presidential regulation, maybe in terms of time or mechanism it can be shortened," said Hasyim.
