Charity Box Thieves At At-Taubah Mosque Recorded By CCTV, Mosque Keeper: Useless, It's Empty

JAKARTA - The act of stealing charity boxes at the At-Taubah Mosque mosque, Pancoran Barat Street, Pancoran, South Jakarta was caught on CCTV. The incident that occurred on Monday, March 28, finally caught the attention of netizens because it was viral on social media.

"There were 4 people, two executors. But the other two were not visible on CCTV. So they pretended to pass by, and kept going back and forth until it was quiet. Finally, he brought them all the charity boxes," said Purkon, a mosque leader when met, Thursday, March 31.

Purkon considered that the act of stealing the charity box was a waste. Because, said Purkon, the charity box that the perpetrators took away did not contain money.

"So it was only one day before that the money was just taken. So the thief didn't know it was empty," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pancoran Police, Commissioner Adjutant of Police Abdullah, said that his party was not aware of the incident because there had not been a report on the incident.

"I've already asked my members, they said there are no reports related to the case," Abdullah said when confirmed, Thursday, March 31.
