Maluku DPRD Receives Reports Of Residents Have Not Enjoyed Clean Water From Projects Built Since 2021

AMBON - Commission III of the Maluku Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) admitted that it received reports that the community had not received clean water while the project related to this had been under construction since 2021. The report came from a resident of Kayu Tiga Hamlet, Batumeja Village, Sirimau District, Ambon City.

"The source of the budget is a loan from the Maluku Provincial Government from PT Sarana Multi-Function Infrastruktur (Persero) in 2020", said Secretary of Commission III of the Maluku DPRD, Rofiq Afifudin, in Ambon, Wednesday, March 30, as reported by Antara.

So based on the information obtained from the community, he said, the commission will go down to carry out a monitoring agenda there to see firsthand what the problem is.

"At the same time, we will ask for an explanation of which party is the problem, whether the contractor or another party until the work has not been completed and until now residents have not been able to get clean water", said Rofiq.

He said, if it is said that the community has not enjoyed it, it means that the project has not been completed. "If the source of the budget is from PT SMI, it means that the project has been carried out between the end of 2020 and 2021, meaning that the contract is in 2020 and physical work will be carried out in 2021", he said.

According to him, Commission III will conduct direct supervision in the field to see what the problem is, then it will be checked whether it has been handed over to the community to manage it or not.

When viewed from the physical condition of the building and supporting facilities for clean water in the field, it is already there, but the water source is not there.

In November 2020, the Maluku Provincial Government signed a loan agreement with PT SMI (Persero) for National Economic Recovery (PEN) which aims to increase infrastructure development in the Highways, Water Resources, and Human Settlements sectors.

Of the total loan of IDR 700 billion, around IDR 14 billion of which was allocated to build several infrastructures on Ambon Island, one of which was the construction of clean water facilities in Kayu Tiga Hamlet, Batumeja Village.
