The Russian Ambassador Said, Vladimir Putin Wants To Come To The G20 Summit In Bali

JAKARTA - Moscow has hinted that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to attend a summit of world leaders in Bali in October.

The Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Lyudmila Vorobieva, said in a press conference that Putin plans to attend a leaders' conference in Bali. But he said that incorporating sensitive political issues into the G20 summit would be counterproductive.

Lyudmila Vorobieva really needs to have made such a limit in the midst of her country's invasion of Ukraine which has not yet ended. Western countries are busy imposing sanctions on Russia.

However, Lyudmila Vorobieva also said that many countries had asked Russia not to attend. The desire came from a western country.

"Russia has been invited," he said.

"We really appreciate the position of the Indonesian government in adopting the G20 presidency for this year," he said.

“Of course the G20 is not a forum to discuss or resolve this kind of crisis. In fact, it is a forum for improving the economic situation and solving economic problems.”

The Brisbane Time, citing Reuters, also said that Russia's presence at events held in Indonesia could potentially trigger boycotts by other countries.

The push to expel Russia reportedly came as a former Indonesian foreign ministry official urged traditionally neutral Jakarta to take a tougher stance against Putin after his invasion of Ukraine.
