BANDA ACEH - A total of 202 residents of Aceh Province were reported to have been exposed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, March 9, resulting in 2,134 people undergoing medical treatment in hospitals or in self-isolation, according to the Aceh Government's COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

Furthermore, eight new cases were detected in Langsa, Aceh Singkil, and Central Aceh, four residents of Pidie Jaya, Subulussalam, and Bireuen, three residents of Nagan Raya and Aceh Tamiang, and one resident of Southwest Aceh, Gayo Lues and Aceh Jaya.

While the recovered patients also increased by 121 people today, including 48 people from Banda Aceh, 29 people from Simeulue, 16 people from Pidie, 15 people from Aceh Tamiang, five people from Central Aceh, and two people each from Aceh Singkil, Bireuen, Southwest Aceh, and Sabang.

"There were six people who died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, namely two Aceh Tamiang residents and one each from Langsa, Sabang, Aceh Singkil and Simeulue," said Saifullah.

According to him, new patients infected with COVID-19 have increased in the westernmost province of Indonesia since the beginning of 2022. Until now, the increase has continued due to lax implementation of health protocols in the community.

Until now, the accumulation of COVID-19 cases in Aceh has reached 41,920 people, of which 37,670 recovered, 2,116 died, and 2,134 patients in self-care or isolation.
