JAKARTA - A dog owner has been sentenced to six months in prison, after allowing his released dog to bite people several times while out for walks.

According to the Uijeongbu District Court, South Korea, the woman in her 80s was charged with violating the Animal Protection Act and negligence. Along with the prison sentence, he was also fined 4 million won around IDR 48.060.682

As reported by the Korea Times February 18, the woman left with two of her four Jindo dogs without a leash in January last year. One of them later bit the merchant on the ankle.

Not long after, a month later, he did nothing when he saw his dog going alone, until he finally bit the leg of another pedestrian.

Despite the two incidents, the woman still left her dogs unattended, the court said.

It doesn't stop there, in the third incident, one of his dogs ran outside when he failed to close the front door properly, and the dog bit a passerby's leg.

Last July, instead of properly tying her dog, she tied her two dogs to each other with a long leash. The rope tripped a pedestrian, seriously injured him and required three weeks of treatment.

After a series of complaints from the victims, the woman was finally brought to the local court.

"Considering the circumstances of the crime, and the method, duration and extent of the injury, we took into account the fact that the defendant's actions were a serious crime. The woman also has a history of being convicted of the same crime several times, and has not even sought forgiveness from the victims," the court said in a statement.
