Pratikno Ensures Jokowi Attends Kendari's 2022 HPN Summit

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Pratikno confirmed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be present in person at the summit of the commemoration of the 2022 National Press Day (HPN) which will take place on February 9, 20222 in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. The President is planned to plant mangrove trees and release Anoa after the ceremonial summit of the HPN 2022 event.

The certainty of the presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary Practico in a meeting with the HPN 2022 committee, Tuesday, February 1 evening. The meeting took place virtually.

Present at the meeting were PWI General Chair Atal S Depari, PWI Secretary General Mirza Zulhadi, Auri Jaya HPN Committee Chair, Suprapto HPN Committee Secretary, Events Section Chair Nurjaman Mochtar, Convention Chair Agus Sudibyo, Bendara M Ichsan, and the event section Merdi Sofansah. The Minister of State Secretary was accompanied by the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, and Jusuf Permana, the protocol of the Presidential Secretariat.

The meeting began with Atal S Depari's report regarding the event that will be held in the series of the HPN 2022 commemoration summits. The concept of the event emphasizes the three objectives of HPN implementation, namely contributing to regional development, voicing national interests, and discussing strategic issues related to the life of the national press.

National strategic issues include the release of Anoa and the mangrove planting movement which is part of Indonesia's commitment to the G20. "Regarding regional interests, we hope that regions will continue to be given mining licensing authority. Press issues were discussed at the 2-day convention, namely media sustainability, publisher rights, and digital sovereignty which are also national issues," he said.

After hearing the explanation of the Person in Charge of HPN and several other committees, Minister of State Secretariat Praktino welcomed the strategic issues that received attention at the HPN summit event and in line with national interests.

“National regulations related to setting global media platforms or publisher rights. We have an appointment to meet the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, hopefully, there will be more concrete discussions before the February 7-8 convention," said Pratikno.

The planting of mangroves and the release of Anoa, according to Practico, is also in line with Indonesia's plan to hold a mangrove showcase at the G20 summit event in Denpasar, Bali. Therefore, the Minister of State is grateful for the support of the HPN committee which has initiated the mangrove planting movement.

“More importantly, not just planting, but ensuring that the mangroves grow and become forests. Lest we plant it today, but it will die tomorrow. Likewise, with Anoa, don't let it harm Anoa itself," he said.

“The highlight of the event is February 9, we have booked the time. Hopefully, the President can be physically present. But yes please, indeed health protocols must be strictly disciplined. Now starting to rise positive cases of Covid. Then the BOR also increased slightly. So this is our concern," said Pratikno.

Pratikno confirmed the format of the event related to the President's presence in Kendari, namely giving a speech and planting mangroves. However, he advised that the event could be packaged as simply as possible without reducing the substance of the event. "Please Mr. Heru can control it in more detail so that the message arrives," he said.

Heru Budi Kartono added that his party will soon hold a meeting with the HPN committee and related parties to discuss in more detail the President's event in Kendari. For example, the location of the HPN summit event will remain at the governor's office or find a place close to the location of mangrove planting.

"Hopefully, after the HPN 2022 ceremonial event, President Jokowi can directly plant mangroves or hand over mangroves to volunteers. And the president came to Kendari not directly from Jakarta, but from other venues," said Heru.
