Fury Was Not Accompanied By His Father In The Rematch Against Usyk

JAKARTA Tyson Fury, the fighter fighter for the heavyweight belt, will certainly not be accompanied by his father, John Fury, against Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.

Usyk and Fury are scheduled to board the ring for a rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Both will win WBA (Super), WBO, WBC, IBO, and The Ring titles.

SugarHill Steward, who is Fury's head coach, indicated John Fury could not attend to witness his son's fight from the corner of the ring.

"Only myself will be in the corner of the ring, Andy Lee, and cutman (the person responsible for handling the fighter's physical injuries during the break between rounds, ed.). That's all," he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

John Fury's presence in the corner of the ring in the first duel against Usyk in May 2024 had drawn a lot of criticism. The reason is, he also gave instructions along with the coach.

Fury earlier this week said he could not confirm whether his father would be in the corner of the ring the same as when he lost his first professional career or not.

"I don't know. I don't take care of all that," Tyson Fury said when asked about the possible presence of his father in the ring.

The assistant coach Lee also said the same thing. However, promoter Frank Warren hopes John will attend and watch the important match live.

So far, John has not been seen in Saudi Arabia as his son prepares to reclaim the three heavyweight belts that will be at stake in the duel.

The second volume of the duel is no longer risking an indisputable heavyweight world title. The reason is, Usyk has removed the IBF belt because it does not carry out mandatory duels and prefers to clash again with Fury.

The IBF title is now in the hands of Daniel Dubois, a British fighter. Dubois defended the title after successfully defeating Anthony Joshua in September 2024.
