Ministry Of Transportation: Buses Not Passing Rampcheck Cannot Operate During Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has conducted feasibility tests or rampchecks on bus transportation used during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays (Nataru). Vehicles that do not pass the rampchek are prohibited from operating during that period.

Plt. Director General of Land Transportation, Ahmad Yani, said that buses that are not roadworthy will be given a special sign in the form of stickers with red cross marks.

"If not like? You can't go. Given a red crossed mark, there is a sticker, so he can't leave," he said during a press conference regarding the implementation of the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year Transportation (Nataru) at the Ministry of Transportation office, Jakarta, Thursday, December 12.

If there are vehicles that do not run, they are still desperate to operate, Ahmad Yani said the Ministry of Transportation would impose sanctions in the form of a ticket.

Ahmad Yani said this step was taken to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods.

"It's not allowed (to operate). We'll get a ticket (if we're desperate), we'll just cage it. It's no longer allowed to pass for safety," he said.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, there are 32,130 buses that are suitable for operation. The details are 14,044 Intercity Inter-Provincial Buses (AKAP), 16,266 Tourism Buses, and 1,820 Passenger Transport (AJAP).

From the safety aspect, Ahmad Yani said the Ministry of Transportation would also monitor the flow of passengers at 113 terminals. Consisting of 80 terminals on arterial roads and 33 terminals on in and out access toll roads.

The Ministry of Transportation itself predicts that the peak of the road homecoming flow will take place from December 24 to 25, 2024 and January 1 to 2, 2025.

"It is the peak and it is our concern to ensure that people move smoothly," he explained.
